"Feed My Starving Children" event: February 22 - 23, 2013

On Friday/Saturday February 22-23 1,600 Cal Poly students, faculty, and members of the community will be working together in 90 minute shifts to package 200,000 meals to feed starving children around the world. We hope you'll join us.

Last year, 32 different Cal Poly clubs and organizations participated in this event, packaging enough food to feed 550 children for an entire year

What is Feed My Starving Children?

Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit Christian organization committed to fighting global hunger through “feeding God’s starving children hungry in body and spirit.” The approach is simple: students, adults and kids hand-pack meals formulated specially for starving children, which are shipped to nearly 70 countries around the world.

What will the February 22-23 service event look like?
This 3 minute video captures the need, explains what the event will look like, and shows the impact the 90 minute shifts can make as we work together as a campus community.

Who can participate?
The event is open to all Cal Poly and Cuesta students, faculty and staff.

Last year 32 different campus clubs and organizations participated, as featured in this shot clip:

This is a great event for families: kids (8 and older) are welcome to participate with a parent or responsable adult.

While the focus of participation is students, faculty, and staff from Cal Poly and Cuesta, interested members of the community are welcome to contact us (see below) regarding participation.

Is there a cost to participate?
While donations are not required to volunteer at this event, we are requesting each volunteer make a $25 donation to cover the cost of the meals they will be packing and to help us reach our overall fundraising goal. 100% of funds raised will go to Feed My Starving Children. Information on giving to this event can be found here.

Where is the event being held?
Mountainbrook Community Church
1775 Calle Joaquin, San Luis Obispo
(located near the 101 and Los Osos Valley Road)

If we want to participate, how do we get started?
There are ten different 90 minute time slots, each starting at 10am on Friday and Saturday (Feb 22 & 23). Click here to reserve a spot for yourself, your family, or a group.

We hope you'll join us!
This is an incredible opportunity to come together as a campus, work with others, and make a significant difference in the lives of children in unimaginable circumstances. We look forward to seeing you there!
